Pā ʻUluniu

ʻUlu and Niu Grove

The Pā ʻUluniu is a grove planted by our ʻohana of hālau members and friends. The grove consists mainly of kinolau of Kū — coconut palms, ʻulu trees, and ti leaf (kī/lāʻī). Every part of the niu or coconut tree — from the fronds to the husk, the shell to the meat and water — has been used by Hawaiians for generations. At our Keauhou farm, Pā ʻUluniu stands as a living connection to those ancestral voyages and to the land of Hualālai. Planted here on the Hōkū moon with aloha by our ʻohana for the future.

Hālau Family Trees

Planting day with ʻohana, hālau members and friends at Pā ʻUluniu. Each class has specific trees they have planted in this garden on the rising Hōkū moon.
